I finished up my daughter’s Rapunzel-style slipper-boots last night after she was asleep. The soles are yellow, the middle is lavender, and the cuff is dark purple. She had a ponytail holder that won’t stay in her hair, so I used the two buttons off of that and put them on the slippers. They have Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled on them.
All that’s left to do is to sew on the felt for the bottom and the fleece on the inside so they don’t wear out too fast. I just don’t have any gold-colored felt to match the yarn I used. The inside part doesn’t matter so much so I’m using some old grey fleece I happened to have. It’s currently being used as a Nintendo DS case, but I’m going to cut it up to make the inside liners for her slippers.
I did get the head done for her Lucinda doll and I got started on the body. I just did a couple of rows for my laptop sleeve. I’m limiting myself to three projects at a time. Two of them are going to be bigger ones (laptop sleeve and doll), while the third will be a smaller project. That way, if I’m getting discouraged about not getting any of them done, I can whip up the smaller project and feel accomplished.
In parenting news, we found Lily a Sofia the First doll. It talks. She doesn’t have yet it. We may wait and give it to her for Christmas or her birthday come December or January. We also found her a Black and Decker Junior tool set complete with tool belt! Found the doll at WalMart and the tool set at Target.
In school news, the second block of summer term starts tomorrow. I’m not sure what to think about the Introduction to Women’s Studies. I’ll say more about that tomorrow after we go over the syllabus.
Noodle (my daughter) is sleeping and I’m not sure what to do. I could work on the doll or sleeve. I kind of want to surf around the Web to find another small project to start. It’s easy to burn out on one project and want to start another. Especially if the projects are big like the sleeve and, especially, the doll. I’m just not sure what I want to make! It’s almost summer so I don’t want to make winter hats and scarves. I’m sure when winter gets here I’ll wish I’d made them now, but for now I just don’t feel like it.
I think I’ll surf around and look. I’ll report back with some of my favorite crochet websites!
